Adam Gettis NFL Draft Bio

Adam Gettis (born December 9, 1988) is an American football guard for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Redskins in the fifth round, with the 141st overall pick, of the 2012 NFL Draft. He played college football for the University of Iowa.

From 2004 to 2006, Gettis played high school football for the Lincoln-Way East Griffins as a starter. Formerly only participating in track, Gettis says a friend talked him into joining the football team. In 2005, Gettis and the Griffins went on to win the IHSA State Title. He was encouraged by legendary offensive line coach, Jack Eddy, who saw him as a potential talent. Eddy worked with Gettis on his agility and footwork using the "reverse" technique. Gettis attributes his solid fundamental play to learning from Eddy's unorthodox methods.
